A celebration of the awesomely masculine, nerdy men that made computers what they are today.
I pitched this show to several different Tech conferences. Some big, some small. Some Linux / Open Source-y conferences. Some more general. Heck, I pitched to one conference two years in a row. (Wait. Three? Shoot. I think I pitched this show for three years. Woah.)
Rejected. Every time.
“Oh, no, Lunduke! We’ll get yelled at for this one.”
They weren’t wrong! They would totally have gotten yelled at for hosting me doing “Awesome Masculinity, Computers, & You”. Every conference I’ve done a live show at… has gotten yelled at for something I said. I think every single one.
Heck. One conference (that I had never been to) threatened me with physical force if I were to simply… show up. Not speak. Just… show up. Yeah. “Awesome Masculinity” would have gotten any conference hosting it… well… yelled at. A lot.
So I can’t blame them at all for rejecting this one. The headaches. Oy.
Still. This would have been cool in front of a live audience. But this needed to get made. Live audience, or no.
