Looks like yours truly will be speaking at Linux Fest Northwest, specifically on Sunday the 26th.
But on what topic shall I speak for an hour?
Here’s what I’m leaning towards:
“Bryan, from the Linux Action Show, rants for a solid hour on why Linux sucks. (And what can be done to fix it.)”
I know it’s a bit on the… ahem… potentially “controversial” side. But, let’s be honest, even if I do a session on “Producing Podcasts in Linux” it’ll end up turning into me ranting about the sorry state of audio software in Linux anyway. 
So why not just cut right to it and lay it all on the line! Hit everything from drivers, to commercial software, to look and feel, to marketing, to distro updates breaking things… ya know. That stuff.
Thoughts?

For those of you wondering: Yes. I hope to be able to record the session and post it (along with the slides) after Linux Fest Northwest is over. Still working out the details on that, but that’s the plan as of right now.

Here’s the description of the session I sent in to the Linux Fest Northwest folks:
“We all love Linux. That’s why we’re here. But sometimes, even the most hardcore among us must admit, Linux really sucks. Ever have problems with audio playing and recording? How about video editing? Ever have a, seemingly minor, software update break Xorg? Let’s take this time to vent and talk about what can be done to solve these, and other, problems.”

Nothing against the idea, but it would be interesting for those of us not being able to go to the linuxfest to see it, too. Will the talk be filmed and could you publish your slides? And if it’s not being filmed, could you redo the talk for LAS?

Oh, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go up their and talk about podcasting. And PLEASE turn it into a rant about how audio in linux sucks. I am honostly begging you, maybe something will get done.

Talking about sucky audio support is awesome! Along with the negative will you have some suggested solutions or is it all one-sided!? I’m down with pulling down Tux’s pants, ut let’s apply a coating of vasaline to the bruise too.

I beg of you Bryan.. do not fall short on the ‘what can be done to fix it’. I hate people who piss and moan about stuff without any constructive ideas to fix the problems. I look forward to seeing it.
