Yesterdays release of DoThisNow was met with a pretty strong, positive response. I am extremely happy about that.
And, now that some of you have had the opportunity to play with it a bit, are there any new features you’d like to see this little automation powerhouse?
Specifically, I’m looking at adding new Actions and Triggers.
An Action is a thing that runs (“set desktop background”, etc.)… a Trigger is a way to… Trigger that Action (“Repeat Action Every 4 hours”, etc.).
Here’s a few examples of features that I’m looking at possibly adding over the next few revs. If any of these jump out at you, just shout.
- Display Alert (using the built in alert system)
- Copy file/folder
- Delete file/folder
- Convert Image
Possible New Triggers:
- File exists
- Connected to specific WiFi network
- Drive Mounted
- User Defined Hot-Keys
Every new Action and Trigger that gets added makes DoThisNow exponentially more powerful. If there are any that you would like to see implemented that I haven’t listed here… definitely let me know!
And, of course: You can get it here and buy it here for $9.95.

Bryan with a “y”-
Why is it called “DoThisNow” if I’m telling it tasks to do later?
Good Radical Breeze stuff! Thanks!

@Scott Smith, Hey “now” is relative since “later” will become “now” when “now” is “past”. “Now” neverending and never-occuring. Booya!

Bought the app and loving it.
Since I’m a pesky German though, an optional 24-hour time-setting would be nice, am/pm ain’t common around here.

Bought the bundle pack, and I’m liking the software so far.
I think for the trigger you could make it so you can set start and ending dates for the recuring events, like for web shows that have set start and end dates (I’m trying to catch Full Metal Alchemist on Funimation).
A side note, anything recurring over a day doesn’t seem to be working, I don’t if it’s just I’m waiting for it at the wrong time, is it suppose to start at the time you set it and repeat at that time everyday (when set to repeat everyday of course)? I would like to see a set time for recurring actions, not just every so many days/weeks/months
Like say “every 2 days at 5:00 start Boxee”
Awesome program
