RadicalCodex 1.0 Beta 4

February 16th, 2009

beta3shotfull2Less than a week after the Beta 3 release, Radical Codex Beta 4 is out!

The best gosh-darned eBook and Comic Book reader (and organizer, and searcher, and to-device-exporter) is moving at a rapid pace towards the “1.0 Gold” release.

The big changes for Beta 4:

  • You can now select multiple books at once to make organization super-duper easy.
  • Much, much improved PDF support.
  • You can now edit Book Info for multiple books at once.
  • There are now right click menus to help make things more flexible.
  • Experimental ability to sync a Comic Book (.cbr or .cbz) directly to a Sony PRS-505 eBook reader device.
  • Support for 64bit Linux!

And I am no where near done!  To say I’m excited with how RadicalCodex has turned out (and the features that are planned in the near future) would be a huge understatement.

More packages (and repos!) for the various Linux versions are continuing to roll out (thanks to the help of one of the coolest guys in the universe)!

So go grab RadicalCodex and give it a spin!

And thanks to everyone who has written in with feedback!  It has been incredibly helpful in making sure my development time is spent working on the things that matter to you guys the most.

(Note for Fedora users: You’ll need to install the Unrar package yourself for Beta 4, if you want .CBR support, as it is not in the base repositoy.  This doesn’t effect any other distro.)

    Hi!

How about support for scrollwheel and/or next/previous buttons for the mouse?

Hi Sambu: There is currently scroll wheel support (scrolling in a current page and to the next page, and scrolling through the book covers). If that isn’t working for you definitely let me know (along with system info, etc.)

As for next/previous buttons on the mouse… that’s a fantastic idea. I’m bumping that up on my priority list.

    Thanks!

I tried using scroll wheel again, but it doesn’t work for me. I tried this on 2 machines using 2 pdf documents. I’m running Intrepid. Let me know if you need more details.
