It’s been an absolutely crazy few months over here. Major life changes galore.
First, I retired from the Linux Action Show — over 6 years after founding it.
Now I have started working at a games company in Seattle as the VP of Technology.
This isn’t completely new territory for me [I've held the same title at a games company in the past] but this is a rather exciting change. The company I’m working on is building social games… wait for it… around movies. Good ones. Really, really good ones. Some of the ones I love most from my childhood. I’ll have more info on that as we move towards a public launch.
Side note: Ever want to work for Bryan? Live in the greater Seattle area? I’m hiring game and server developers. My email link is at the top of the page. Resumes. I accept them.
But, what does this mean for Illumination, LDE, Linux Tycoon and all the rest of the projects here that I’ve been slaving away on for so long?
Don’t worry. They aren’t going away. And development is not stopping.
You see… I didn’t accept this new position without having a very clear plan for how all of you would be completely taken care of. And, I’m going to be honest, I’m kind of excited about it. And I think most of you will be to.
More information coming shortly (just as soon as I finish writing it all up in an official — and spell checked — post). But, for now, here’s a few things to note:
Don’t buy any of the software on the website today. Trust me on that. It won’t bite you or anything (it’s all good software, after all), but you’ll be extra happy you waited a day. Those of you that were holding off — you’ve got the all clear. More info on the way, but there’s no reason to delay now.
- Development of all games and apps here will be continuing — in a slightly modified [and highly focused] fashion.
- Many of you will tilt your head to the side and go “whuuuuuuu”? But then you’ll smile and be all like “oh, I get it… sweeeeet”.
